Coronavirus (Covid-19) Statistics

COVID-19 is a coronavirus discovered in Wuhan, China, in late December 2019, that likely came from infected animals and spread to humans. The virus can cause severe respiratory problems mainly in people with medical problems, weakened immunity, and the elderly (age 60 and older).

As of Mar. 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-9 the cause of a worldwide pandemic. Some infections result in fatal viral pneumonia. The current mortality rate (death rate) is about 1%-3%, depending on the data available.
